Essex Law School

Ranked 51st in the law subject section in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, at Essex Law School we take excellence in research and excellence in education equally seriously. We have a global reputation for our research: more than two-thirds of our publications were rated as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent' in REF 2014, placing us in the top 20 UK law schools.

In addition to our three-year LLB degree, we run a long-established ‘double degree’ in English and French law, and several joint honours courses in law with human rights, politics, philosophy, business, finance and criminology. At taught postgraduate level, we have particular expertise in commercial law, trade and maritime law, and human rights.

This post is open to any area of law, although we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute teaching and research expertise in areas of law such as torts, criminal law, environmental law, employment law, land law, equity, public law and legal theory. We welcome a range of scholarly perspectives, including doctrinal, socio-legal and theoretical outlooks.
