The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, located on the Viikki Campus, promotes the sustainable use of natural resources and human wellbeing through scientific research and research-based teaching. The Faculty’s key areas of education and research are food, agricultural, forest and environmental sciences, and economics in relation to these areas. The Faculty has 3,200 undergraduate and postgraduate students and employs 500 experts.
The Department of Economics and Management at the University of Helsinki is one of six departments in the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. It is the leading educational and research unit in its field in Finland. It's areas of competence include food systems and consumption, rural economic and business development, and the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment. There are about 40 teaching and research staff at the department, and some 400-500 students study in the following majors: food economics, consumer economics, agricultural economics, marketing and environmental economics.

UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN MARKETING
starting on 1 August 2018 or according to mutual agreement.
The duties of the university lecturer include research and teaching at the Bachelor in Environmental and Food Economics (https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/ymparisto-ja-elintarviketalouden-kandiohjelma...) and at the Master program in Food Economics and Consumption (https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/elintarviketalouden-ja-kulutuksen-maisteriohj...) in the field of the position - marketing, supervision of theses, and the joint development of teaching together with other academic staff in the department. Participation to research and student administration is part of the job.
To successfully attend to the duties of the position, the appointee shall be active teacher and researcher with capabilities to conduct and evaluate both qualitative and quantitative research in the fields of bachelor and master programs, specially focused on food, consumption and environment. Ideal candidate has project experience as well.
According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, holders of university lectureships are required to possess an appropriate doctoral degree, to have the ability to provide high quality research-based teaching, and to supervise theses and dissertations. When considering the qualifications of the applicants, attention will be paid to scientific publications in the fields in question and other research results of scientific value. In addition, teaching and supervising experience, pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials and other teaching merits will be evaluated. A teaching demonstration may be considered.
According to the Universities Decree, university lecturers must be fluent in the Finnish language. They must also have at least satisfactory spoken and written skills in Swedish.
Foreign citizens, non-native Finnish citizens or citizens who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from this requirement without a separate application. If the appointee is not proficient in Finnish, he or she must attain a level of Finnish proficiency suitable for everyday communication within three years of taking up the position.
The salary will be based on levels 5-7 of the requirements level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. There is a four-month trial period for the position.
