The Unit of Animal Genomics of the GIGA Research Institute at the University of Liège is seeking applicants for an immediately available postdoctoral position in the area of population and evolutionary genomics.
The objectives of the proposed research project are to exploit a unique dataset of whole genome sequences generated for > 750 domestic cattle for the identification of de novo mutations in the bovine germ line. The dataset was generated as part of the DAMONA ERC project to Michel Georges. It is unique in that it allows for the first time to study the importance of quantitative and qualitative inter-individual differences in the process of de novo mutations. First published results that have been obtained with this and similar datasets include Charlier et al. Genome Research 26: 1333 (2016) and Harland et al. (http://biorxiv.org/content/early/2016/10/09/079863).
The successful candidates will have a PhD degree in genetics/genomics or related field, and are expected to have a strong experience in bioinformatics and statistical genomics.
All application documents (motivation letter, detailed curriculum vitae, contact details of references) should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject heading: “UAG POSTDOC”.
